Summary | 489: Tab "Live ports" is blank (Continue notes from issue # 486)
Description | (0000467) infrastation (administrator) 2011-10-26 12:41 SNMP should work better in the next release. Regarding the "Live VLANs" bug, I have quickly looked and did not figure out why it does not work. This is a legacy feature and it will be completely dropped in future. I would advise using 802.1Q for VLAN management and "Live ports" for status retrieval, if possible. I use ~ 15 devices with this problem

Did you set the "deviceconfig" gateway up as explained here? https://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/racktables/index.php?title=8021Q |
|
Yes, I have configured according to the instructions.
Ok, "Live VLANs" produced an error message in the log, does "Live ports" produce any?
Additional information is required to investigate this.
Tab "Live ports" is blank. What additional information is still needed? Tell me how you can get it or how to see it? |
|
Yes, you are right. There is currently an issue with error reporting in relevant code, which makes diagnostics harder. Alexey agreed to look how this can be improved.
There is a trick, which may come handy: 802.1Q and "Live ports" frontends use the same backend to read the configuration. At the same time, 802.1Q reports backend errors just normal. This means, once you get 802.1Q working, "Live ports" may turn out working without additional setup. The rest is up to Alexey. |

The same happens to me: i did a quick trace with wireshark: in my case it seems that when using live ports and live cdp, the telnet connection doesn't authenticate. When I do "live vlans" I see in the telnet connection in wireshark the username, password and enable password. When I make "live cdp" in the telnet connection I just see "show cdp neighbor" command"... Further investigating... |

fix will be available in version 0.20.1
