Summary647: Wiki page on SNMP needs more info on MIBs
DescriptionI have spent the better half of the day figuring out what "Fatal SNMP error" really means; it was made a little harder to have an unusual webserver setup, so it took some time to figure out that php actually tried to log that

PHP Warning: snmp2_get(): Invalid object identifier: sysObjectID.0 in /var/www/rt/inc/snmp.php on line 2053

Net-SNMP - at least on Debian - do not contain MIBs due to license restrictions, these have to be specifically downloaded by

snmp-mibs-downloader

and even after that /etc/snmp/snmp.conf had to be convinced that there are indeed MIBs around.

This is just not enough since the php engine (usually apache, in my case fastCGI) had to be restarted to notice the changes.

Without all of these SNMP Sync dies with the cryptic message "Fatal SNMP error", which is as helpful as it looks (=not at all).
Additional InformationI would have updated the wiki if I had access. ;-)

I happened to try this hack, too. ;-)

"You do not have permission to create this user account, for the following reason: The action you have requested is limited to users in the group: Administrators."

My login would be 'grin', my email is in the bugtracker [you can use grin atsign grindot hu as well], you can add me and send the autogen pw. I suspected you'd rather give wiki permission than to write it yourself. ;-)

The account already existed since the SF era of this wiki. I have updated the email and requested a password reset for it.

I see, probably the password reminder went away with the signup. :-)

Thanks, I started screwing things up, I mean, uh, updating the docs. :-]
